実家に使わなくなった初代Power Mac G3(B/W）を進呈し、メールなどの送受信ができるようにセットアップしてきた。
システムをセットアップする前に、ハードディスクの中身をバックアップして持ち帰り、３年前の今日、あのマシンでどんな作業をしていたのか検索して調べてみた。
そうして出てきたのが、上のMac OS X Server 1.0の図だった。
これはおそらくMACPOWER誌で当時連載中だった「Prelude to Mac OS X」で使った図だろう。
Mac OS Xは、そのちょっと前までミレニアムというコードネームで呼ばれていたが、実際のリリースは新千年紀には間に合わなかった。
とはいえ出てくることがわかっているMac OS Xを無視することはできないということで、同OSの基盤となるMac OS X ServerからMac OS X像を予想するというこの連載を始めたのだ。しかし、連載当時既にAquaが発表されたいたとはいえ、わずか３年間でここまで来たというのはちょっとすごい気がする
